The exercise was to listen to a calming, relaxing track that was supposed to elevate awareness to your inner peace. As I follow the gentleman's directions and listened to the soft music playing, I found myself with quiet time I am not accustomed to; however, his voice was a distraction. I listed to the whole track, and allowed myself to find peace, which set me up for a good night's sleep. I think I prefer just gentle sounds like that in the background for total relaxation.
Warm Regards,

Hello Jenn,
ReplyDeleteThe soothing voice of the narrator of the audio file did relax me. In addition, although I could not follow his instructions and shunt the blood around my body, I believe the technique was akin to guided imagery. I say this because while I was focused on his voice and the tasks he was directing me to do, I was lost in the task and the focus was on my body and not on my troubles and I found myself drifting off to sleep. When first reviewing the exercise I thought I had failed because I could still lift my arms easily. When in fact, the fellow had guided me away from my troubles and into a space when my focus was not on the angst in my life. SO I guess in some strange way the Journey was one of peace and tranquility. Like everything else in my life if I choose to frame it as a failure it will be. If I choose to frame it as a success, I guess it will be as well.
Thanks for your post.

Hi Jenn!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you again..I thought the narrator would have a positive effect on those that are having trouble guiding themselves into a quiet bubble. I believe that the art of relaxation is a learned behavior. Our world is at such a fast pace and the mental thought that everything must be in the now.
After the technique has been learned that the narrator would not be necessary, choice of music could be of the listeners choice, creating the tranquil time to relax and allow the body to decompress from the stresses of the day.
